Training Divisions TSI is organized into four training divisions*:
Aviation Safety Division: Home of the National Aircraft Accident Investigation School, we provide premiere training in instrument flight procedures, aviation safety and accident investigation techniques and management through workshops, field activities, individual studies and hands-on training. Courses cover aviation’s most current information in all aspects of civil and public aviation accident investigation and flight procedures. Overall the Aviation Safety Division currently manages sixteen courses; seven Instrument Flight Procedures training courses and nine courses in aviation safety and accident investigation management.
Multi-Modal Safety Division: A newly formed division that combines two pre-existing divisions of TSI—“Hazardous Materials” and “Special Programs”. The Division provides a variety of transportation safety related courses to federal, state and private industry audiences including hazardous materials, risk management, and motor carrier compliance. In addition, we provide a myriad of other products and services including course development, program management, and event scheduling.
Traffic Safety Division: Develops and delivers highway safety training programs for local, state, and federal highway professionals to include occupant protection, law enforcement, impaired driving, emergency medical services, and comprehensive traffic safety program management training. Operations also include three levels of training for National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) “National Automotive Sampling System” field personnel in support of crash research.
Transit Safety and Security Division: Develops and delivers a broad variety of safety and security training and education to the transit industry—both private and public sector. Courses equip transit personnel with high performance skills needed to effectively operate, maintain, and manage public transportation systems.
*Container Inspection Training and Assistance Team (CITAT): Although not a formal part of TSI, CITAT is an active tenant and maintains a close relationship with TSI. A U.S. Coast Guard detachment, CITAT provides training and technical assistance to units and other federal, state and local agencies on hazardous material transportation regulations and intermodal container inspection standards.
